Scope and evidence
This guide compares official plan descriptions checked on October 8, 2026. It is not a coding benchmark or a measured free-tier quota test. Earlier uncited HumanEval scores and app message limits have been removed.
The official Google page discusses Gemini 3.1 Pro access. Grok’s plans page advertises chat with Grok 4.6. An old Gemini 2.0 Flash versus Grok 3 comparison is not an adequate description of these current consumer offerings. API rate limits also should not be presented as consumer chat-app allowances.
Google AI plans: what the bundle includes
| Plan | USD monthly price shown | Main documented differences |
|---|---|---|
| Google AI Plus | $4.99 | More Gemini access, Gmail proofreading and 400 GB storage |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 | Expanded Gemini and Deep Research access, Google-app features and 5 TB storage |
| Google AI Ultra | From $99.99 | Higher access, Deep Think and additional benefits; storage starts at 20 TB |
Those are published US-dollar offers, not guaranteed worldwide checkout totals. Google marks some features as country-, age-, language- or device-dependent. Personal Google accounts and Workspace purchases have different eligibility and packaging.
For someone who drafts in Docs, works in Sheets and uses Gmail, integration can be worth more than a small difference in chatbot answers. Confirm your exact feature is included: an AI plan’s consumer benefits do not automatically grant your whole company the same Workspace entitlement.
Grok plans: compare capabilities before price
| Plan | What the official page describes | Price verification |
|---|---|---|
| SuperGrok Lite | Basic expanded access, Expert mode and image/video creation access | Verify checkout |
| SuperGrok | Higher limits, longer chat and voice conversations, creative and coding tools | Verify checkout |
| SuperGrok Heavy | Highest usage, larger agent collaboration, early access and X Premium+ benefit | Verify checkout |
The accessible official page did not expose reliable numeric prices during this check. We therefore do not reuse an older X Premium price or guess a SuperGrok amount. Heavy’s X Premium+ benefit is explicitly listed, but that is not proof that every X subscription has equivalent Grok access.
Grok’s page describes relative limits such as longer conversations and faster replies. Those statements are vendor plan descriptions, not timings measured by ToolVerdict.
A decision checklist for your real workflow
Documents and email: Start by checking Gemini’s availability in the Google apps you actually use. If the feature requires a particular paid tier, region or account type, a free chat comparison will not answer the purchasing question.
Creative generation: Compare the allowed duration, resolution and usage pool for image or video outputs. A plan that offers video generation is not necessarily an unlimited production tool, and purchasing access does not remove every content or licensing condition.
Research: Ask either assistant for dated sources and open the links. Do not treat a social-media post or a confident answer as confirmation. This guide does not establish that either service finds breaking news more reliably.
Coding: Give both the same failing example and run the resulting code. Prefer an output that passes the tests and explains its assumptions over a polished answer that cannot execute.
Budget: Decide whether you need the extra storage and app benefits. If not, those bundles may be irrelevant even when their total advertised value is high. Avoid buying annual access until you know the tool fits your work.
